In the fall of 2006, Rev. Dr. Lehman D. Bates of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Charlottesville, VA, along with Dr. Mikal Ba’th of Global Faith Alliance began a series of community discussions entitled Breaking the Chains. Andrea served as moderator. The first discussion, The African-American Search for Truth, focused on self-awareness amongst African Americans, finding the truth in who we are, accepting responsibility and making the changes necessary to become a better people.

The television series of Breaking the Chains began in December 2006. It was well received as many felt the controversial discussions that take place on this program were long overdue. With national and international airings taking place throughout colleges, universities, public forums, churches and on other stations in Virginia, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Africa and the United Kingdom, Breaking the Chains has gained a global audience that boast of viewers from all backgrounds. Several public forums on race relations have taken place locally and even abroad as a result of the information being shared on Breaking the Chains.

As we continue bringing you thought-provoking information on hot-button topics like race, religion, politics and classism, viewers and community members will be invited to take part in the televised discussions. So if you’ve got something important to share as it relates to the African American community, let us know. We want to hear from you.
